Progress

So in DP new the Ninja Report has been proposed which is by far the most progress made to date. Might actually be able to get the damn thing done by the end of the school year.

Also I got promoted at work. Kind of. Again. Kind of. CPS does not like to hire part time employees because they don’t want to give any of the benefits that would come with a true part time position. To get around this they have consults and hourly workers, with my position being the latter. Following CPS conventions all part time employees in the Department of Program Evaluation were called interns. So despite the fact that I worked as a staff member with no term limit on my tenure (2 things that don’t meet the intern definition) and did not fetch coffee I was stuck with the title of Evaluation Intern. With the reorganization I got a new title of Evaluation and Research Intern. But still the title was not on par with the workload. We have actual interns who come and work for an academic semester and then leave but three of us were stuck with the title despite working at a much higher level and for a longer period of time (I have been here almost 2 years now). Finally, after a couple months of discussion our interim director granted us a new title of Evaluation and Research Associate a title on par with what other jobs in the field with similar responsibilities are titled.

No one gets very excited by this news though once I explain to them that it does not come with a raise, any benefits, any new prospect of advancement, not even a cookie (although their was zucchini bread that day – unrelated though). So Hooray…right?
